DELAWARE DEER STEWARDSHIP
The 2012 Deer Steward dates and locations will be announced later this fall. Registration will open in early January.

• Deer Steward I will provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the key principles of deer and habitat
biology, ecology and management.
• Deer Steward II will teach students how to apply the principles learned in level one through hands-on and field experience.
• Deer Steward III, the most prestigious, must be earned through an individual’s long-term service to QDMA, and/or the white-tailed deer.

The Delaware (DE) Chapter of the Quality Deer Management Association (QDMA) Hunter Education Program is committed to putting safe,
ethical and educated hunters in the field. The program aims to preserve Delaware's heritage of hunting through education. With an emphasis
on safety, the program has proven to be extremely effective in reducing hunting accidents and habitat expansion.
While the hunting accident rate has significantly decreased through the efforts of the Chapter and its partners, changing demographics and the decreasing amount of open space for habitat and hunting have created new considerations for hunters, landowners, and Delaware's general public (who may or may not be hunters themselves). In response, the DE QDMA Hunter Education Program is also changing to meet the demands and challenges of a new hunting era.
Our emphasis continues to be on safety--through improved methods and techniques. Today's programs includes landowner relations, ethical behavior, wildlife identification, wildlife management and conservation, hunting and game laws and their enforcement.
